The Letter From The President
I hope you are doing well and had a chance to spend some time off with family and friends over the summer.
With the official start of Fall just a few days away, I wanted to update you on the plans for NIRI Orange County. Your chapter Board of Directors has been busy developing a slate of programs for the 2023-2024 term and I’m excited to share a preview with you today. But first, I’d like to introduce our new Board:
David Erickson, In Transition (President)
Cynthia Skoglund, Skoglund Consulting Group (Director and Treasurer)
Stanley Martinez, CFA, IRC, In Transition (Director)
Mitch Haws, IRC, Advanced Micro Devices (Director)
Oliver Moravcevic, Edwards Lifesciences (Director)
Lela Cade, Morrow Sodali (Director)
Bios for each member and additional information can be found on the NIRI Orange County website here. I’d also like to take a moment to recognize and thank outgoing Board members Mark Wilterding and Matt Lazzaro for their many contributions and support.
For this year, your Board is working on a variety of programs both large and small, and virtual and in-person to meet the diverse needs of the chapter. Our first event is titled “Proxy Process: How Public Company Shares Actually Get Voted.” This virtual event will be held on Friday, September 29. Other programs in development include:
• Late October/Early November 2023 – What’s Brewing? (in-person)
• December 2023 – Holiday Social (in-person)
• January 2024 – UCI Economist Christopher Schwarz (hybrid)
• May 2024 – SoCal Regional Conference (in-person; full-day)
Additional topics under consideration include Artificial Intelligence and IR; Do’s & Don’ts in Financial Communications; Current Trends in Corporate Governance and ESG, and more. Look for more information in the weeks and months ahead. And, if you have an idea for a program, we’d love to hear it!
Finally, I’m pleased to announce that your Board has again this year agreed to provide to NIRI OC members free access to all of the regular programs offered by the NIRI Virtual Chapter through June 2024 (see below for more details). By being a paid member of the Orange County chapter, you can get the Virtual Chapter’s monthly programming in addition to all of our local events and programs for no additional cost. If you’re not already a NIRI OC member, this is another great reason to join!
On behalf of your Board of Directors, thank you for your continued support of NIRI Orange County. I look forward to seeing you at all of our upcoming events.
David K. Erickson, President, NIRI Orange County Chapter
